I have this little voice inside of me just waiting to call me out on the things I do wrong.
“You’re not good enough.”
“You can’t do that.”
“You’ll never make it.”
“Give up while you’re ahead.”
You hear that voice too?
That’s the voice that can hold you back from doing miraculous things. It’s also a voice you can get rid of if you’re willing to work at it.
1. Acknowledge the voice
The hardest thing we’ll each struggle with is with the pressure we put on ourselves. We can always do a little better, at least in our minds. The next time you hear that little voice loud and clear, turn it down. When she says, “You can’t do that,” cheer yourself on instead. Ask yourself what you can do. Push yourself a little harder, and smile when you realize how far you’ve come.
2. Stop comparing
The little voice is always associated with the expectations you place on yourself after watching someone else in action. Other people are smarter, richer, prettier, skinnier, healthier … you get the picture. And that little voice never lets us forget it. When you decide to start focusing in on you, rather than comparing yourself to others, you’ll find you move to a better place. When your competition switches to internal rather than external, you recognize what you have to offer the world. And the world becomes a better place.
3. Embrace who you are
People can tell you it’s a good idea to eat healthily, avoid sugar, and implement a plant-based diet into your life. But if you don’t believe it, you won’t do it. If you’re doing things because other people tell you to, the changes will never last. What it takes for true change is to believe what you’re about to do.
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what you believe in? What do some of the most popular terms mean to you? Things like:
- Healthy Habits
- Diet
- Wellness
- Exercise routines
- Balance
Those words mean different things to different people. What makes sense to me won’t mean the same thing for you. The key is in learning to define each point and how it plays out in your life. Lean into what matters most for you, and stick with it in everything you do.
