Every day it seems there’s a new beauty product on the market that offers a wide array of benefits. All of them scream: pick me, pick me! It can be a little overwhelming, especially with the hype and claims to make you better, safer, stronger, or healthier than ever before.
But why do we need products for that? We’ve been doing just fine on our own for thousands of years. Sure, we’ve come along way. And some of the things we’ve discovered can make a difference in our lives. But sometimes, back to the basics is what’s best.

Have you ever noticed how good you feel after a particularly difficult workout? You vamp up the intensity to the point where the sweat drips from your nose. Those are the best kinds of workouts because they give you what you really need. Sweating is about your mental state as much as it is pushing your body. It’s about your commitment to take care of your body, no matter what. Work on your endurance. Push your muscles to work a little bit more. Make a commitment to going there several days of the week. You’re going to love the results.
Drink More Water
There are a lot of ways to make your water a little more exciting. Hydration is key to feeling better, but why settle for boring water? Make it more appealing by infusing it with fruit, vegetables, and spices. All you’ll need is a good pitcher with an infusion lid. Or grab yourself a half-gallon glass mason jar. Then fill it with high quality ingredients to create water you’ll love. Try cucumber and mint leaves. Try a couple of orange slices and blueberries. How about pineapple and mint? Or watermelon and basil? Mango and pineapple can be the best on a hot summer day. Just be sure to store in the refrigerator and let steep for at least four hours before you enjoy.
Get More Fiber
Fiber is key to keeping your weight low and your metabolism high. Try making most of your meals plant-based. Be sure to eat as many varieties of fruits and vegetables as you can as it will increase the amount of fiber you intake.
Travel Smarter
This applies to day trips as well as jumping on a flight. Nothing makes you feel unhealthier than stepping away from your normal routine. Whether you’re taking the kids for a day activity or planning a trip with the family, it’s easy to fall into bad habits. Instead of trying to find healthy choices along the way, be sure to pack everything you need instead. Bring your own sunscreen so you don’t have to rely on something you find with more chemicals. Bring your own snacks so you don’t fall into the trap of eating sugary snacks. You can even invest in fun water bottles for the whole family, so you aren’t tempted with sugary drinks.
