Aging is as much a mindset as it is physical. The more confident you are, the more you enjoy who you are becoming, the more positive you’ll take on each year as you age.
You might have even started seeing differences in the way you approach your daily routines when compared to a few short years ago. If you want to age gracefully, here are a few things you should do.
Skip the fancy skincare routine
Instead of moving around and trying new skincare products every time you run out, develop a routine instead. Look for high quality, natural ingredients that will treat your skin right. Look for a good sunscreen and apply it every morning. Moisturize before you go to bed each night. And look for a good retinoid as they help the skin decrease fine lines and increase collagen.
Move every day
Exercise and movement can’t be stressed enough. The adage of “use it or lose it” applies when it comes to exercise. Movement makes you feel better about yourself, relieves stress, helps you stay young, and can help you maintain a healthy weight. Whether you sign up for a marathon or just enjoy a walk every day with your friends, get out of the house and move your body.
Reduce makeup
You might be tempted to try and hide those tiny lines behind makeup, but that won’t do the trick. The more makeup you use, the more it shows your aging. Instead of trying to cover it up, select more translucent products that let your healthy glow shine through. Avoid powders and stick with cremes, which won’t settle into the lines on your face.
Pay attention to all of your skin
It’s not just your face that is impacted by the sun. Moisturize all of your skin after your shower, and then again at night before you go to bed. For most women, the backs of their hands give away as much about your age as your face. Apply those same skincare routines to your hands as you do your face before bed, and notice the changes in the way they look too.
Change your attitude
Are you a glass half full, or glass half empty kind of person? Studies show that the more positive you are about your day, the better you’ll age. In fact, people with a positive outlook will live several years longer than their negative counterparts. Stop worrying about the aging process and get out and have some fun. You’ve always wanted to change the world in your unique way; do it. If you enjoy what you do and who you’re with, you won’t have time to focus in on what birthday you’re celebrating this year. You’ll be too busy having the time of your life.
